These seals provide low friction, effective sealing against many contaminants, and accommodate axial displacement of the shaft. In highly contaminated environments, they can serve as the first barrier in a three-barrier sealing solution. The combination of housing seals, the grease fill in the housing, and a bearing with integral seals can have a significant impact on bearing service life.
