Cup head bolts and nuts comprise a bolt with a dome-shaped head and a hex nut. The cup head bolt is also known as cup head square neck, coach, or carriage bolts.
 
Cup head bolts and nuts are normally used in wood applications. They are optimal when used to fasten wood and metal however, they can also be used to fasten two timbers together as well.
 
Carriage bolts are inserted into pre-drilled holes while hex nuts are threaded on to the shank using an appropriate spanner to fasten the materials in place.
 
The square neck of coach bolts locks itself into the wood to prevent it from spinning when tightened. Cup head bolts and nuts are available in various sizes and lengths.

Galvanised is a dull greyish colour and is slightly rough in appearance. It is mainly used outdoors due to its superior corrosion resistance and longevity in rugged environments. Often known as HDG, it provides strong protection against rust.
