Nyloc Insert Nuts feature a nylon ring at the top of the nut that locks onto the bolt threads once fully tightened. This creates a friction-based locking action that helps prevent loosening due to vibration, removing the need for a separate lock washer.

The nylon insert deforms during the first installation, which means its locking effectiveness is reduced if the nut is reused.

Nuts should be selected to match a compatible bolt grade and material system to ensure proper strength and performance.

Heat Tolerance.  For high temperature applications, ie above 120 °C , use an all metal locking nut, (e.g. Stover, Conelock, K-Lock) which does not have nylon and is rated to the same temperature as the steel itself.
