Hex Slotted Nut - Plain - M10

Hex slotted nuts are hexagonal fasteners that feature six wide slots spaced evenly at 60° intervals around the top face. They are generally considered to have about 80% of the strength of a comparable full-thickness nut of the same size, grade, and style.

They are designed for use with bolts or studs that have a drilled hole through the threaded portion. A cotter pin is passed through the hole to lock the nut in place, preventing loosening or rotation. The connection remains secure until the pin is removed or breaks.

  • Hex nut with six top slots for locking with a cotter pin
  • Approximately 80% strength compared to standard full-thickness nuts
  • Used with drilled bolts or studs for pin locking
  • Common in securing wheel bearings on spindles
  • Can be used in place of castle nuts, but have a lower profile due to the flat top design
  • Not intended for use with lock washers
