DESCRIPTION

Lock Washer External Teeth - Zinc Plate - 3/4 (Box=500)

(Price per unit)

Tooth lock washers are designed to help stop a bolted connection from loosening under vibration or repeated loading conditions.

  • Tooth Lock Washers feature serrated edges either on the outer circumference (external tooth) or around the inner hole (internal tooth).
  • The serrated teeth grip the bolt head and the contact surface when clamped, helping prevent loosening caused by rotation.
  • They provide stronger locking action compared with traditional split spring washers.
  • External tooth washers:
    • Offer maximum surface grip due to teeth engaging the work surface.
    • May leave visible marks on the surface.
  • Internal tooth washers:
    • Sit beneath the bolt head, keeping the teeth less visible.
    • Provide a cleaner appearance with reduced surface marking.
  • Common standards include:
    • DIN 6797 – External tooth lock washers.
    • DIN 6798 – Internal tooth lock washers.
    • IFI 532 – Industrial fastener standard.

Applications / uses

A washer designed to help prevent a bolted connection from working loose during vibration or repeated loading.

It achieves this by adding extra resistance through either spring tension or gripping features such as serrated surfaces, working alongside the bolt’s normal clamping force.

These washers are commonly used in applications where a conventional flat washer and the bolt’s preload alone may not provide sufficient joint security, including engines, industrial machinery, vehicle components, and rotating equipment.

Note: Lock Washers must be selected to match a compatible material system to ensure proper strength and performance. ie stainless steel with stainless steel, zinc plate with zinc plate.
