Heavy Flat Washers are used to increase the bearing surface of a nut or fastener's head thus spreading the clamping force over a larger area. They can be useful when working with soft materials and oversized or irregular shaped holes. The washer also ensures a smooth base for the nut to press against.

Heavy Flat Washers are made to the "nearest standard" meaning tolerances and sizing, supplier markings (if applicable) & material finish can be very different between suppliers, always use the measurements in this listing as a guide. If sizing is of critical concern please contact us prior to ordering.

To ensure optimum strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance, flat washers should be selected from a material compatible with the bolt and nut. For example, use stainless steel washers with stainless steel fasteners, and galvanised washers with galvanised fasteners.

Recommended applications include timber framing, fencing, decking, retaining walls, and projects involving treated timber (such as H3 and H4 treated pine).
