Spring lock washers are flat washers that are cut and twisted into a slight spiral or corkscrew like shape.

When tightened, the washer flattens under load
If the bolt begins to loosen, the cut ends dig into both the bolt head and the contact surface
This biting action helps resist further rotation and loosening
They are widely used due to their simplicity and low cost
One of the most common and inexpensive types of locking washer.
