Mudguard Washers offer an extra-wide bearing surface that is useful when working with oversized or irregularly shaped holes.
  • Can be used when fastening soft materials that could benefit from increased support.
  • Also known as Penny washers and fender washers.

The outside diameter is approximately three times the bolt diameter, making it significantly larger than a standard flat washer for the same bolt size.

This increased size helps distribute the load more effectively and reduces the risk of pull-through in softer or thinner materials.

It is suitable for use in applications such as:

  • Marine bollards / cleats
  • Automotive and industrial body panels
  • Signage installation
  • Sheet metal cladding
  • Timber framing
  • General repairs where standard washers may fail, be insufficent or pull through materials

Note: For galvanic compatibility always pair the washer material to the bolt & nut: stainless bolt & nut to stainless washer, galvanised bolt & nut to galvanised washer.

Mixing materials can create corrosion & less durability in damp, wet environments.

Zinc Plated is the most common fastener of plating due to its the low cost and shinny bright silver finish. A thin layer of zinc is applied by either electroplating or mechanically. It is intended to be used internally. External use is not recommended if corrosion is a concern. Choose from the Stainless steel range for external use.
