Extra Large Heavy Washers are used to increase the bearing surface of a nut or fastener's head thus spreading the clamping force over a larger area. They can be useful when working with soft materials and oversized or irregular shaped holes
  • The washer features an oversized outside diameter, approximately three times the bolt diameter, providing a much greater bearing surface than a conventional flat washer.
  • The larger contact area allows the load to be spread across a wider section of the material, improving strength and reducing the chance of pull-through failure.
  • This design is especially useful where standard washers may not adequately support the load or may damage the surrounding material.

Applications

  • Ideal for use in marine fittings, automotive panels, signage installations, sheet metal assemblies, timber structures, and general repair work.

Note: To ensure optimum strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance, flat washers should be selected from a material compatible with the bolt and nut. For example, use stainless steel washers with stainless steel fasteners, and galvanised washers with galvanised fasteners.

Zinc Plated is the most common fastener of plating due to its the low cost and shinny bright silver finish. A thin layer of zinc is applied by either electroplating or mechanically. It is intended to be used internally. External use is not recommended if corrosion is a concern. Choose from the Stainless steel or galvanised range for external use.
