Flat Round Washer - Nylon - M2.5x6.5x0.5 (Box=200)

(Price per unit)

Flat washers are used to increase the bearing surface beneath a nut or bolt head, distributing the clamping force over a larger area.

They are particularly useful when fastening soft materials or components with oversized or irregularly shaped holes. A flat washer also provides a smooth, even surface for the nut or bolt head to bear against, helping to improve load distribution and reduce the risk of surface damage.

Flat washers are the standard washer used in most bolted connections and are typically installed beneath the nut, the bolt head, or both.

To ensure optimum strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance, flat washers should be selected from a material compatible with the bolt and nut.

Nylon is non-magnetic, non-conductive and chemically resistant (with limits).

Recommended uses:

  • Electrical assemblies where non-conductive materials are required
  • Food and pharmaceutical equipment requiring chemical-resistant components
  • Marine fittings where reducing weight is important
  • Applications that require electrical insulation or protection from chemical exposure
  • Joints that must not corrode galvanically against an aluminium or stainless mating part.

Limitations:

  • Not suitable for high-load structural applications
  • Nylon provides lower tensile strength compared with carbon materials or stainless steel
  • Poor resistance against strong acids and strong oxidizing agents.

Note: Nylon is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture, which can reduce its strength and stiffness while increasing flexibility. For permanent wet or marine environments, use a suitable metal fastener instead.
